13 Events You Won't Want to Miss | July 2019

June has come and gone…now make way for July!

It’s the perfect time to round up the family for a nice vacation, or even to go for a well-deserved solo road-trip to our beautiful region. (Don’t forget a good road-trip playlist!)

Summer is in full flight and Festival season is finally here. The month of July is jam-packed with fun for everyone, so here’s a sample of what’s happening in the Chaleur Region in July 2019!

1. Canada Day 

When: July 1st

Where: Bathurst, Beresford, Belledune and Petit-Rocher

Why: O Canada!

Guess who is turning 152 this year? We’ll give you a hint: the name starts with a C and finishes with Anada!

Our beloved country is being celebrated in style on the first of July in the Chaleur Region. You’ll find many different Canada Day festivities and many of them just so happen to be taking place at the local beaches.

In Belledune, the parade starts at 12:30pm where prizes will be given out to the most creative Canada Day float or individual -- so get those reds & whites out! 

From 1pm to 4pm, time for some cake, BBQ, games for children and music by Barry Bazerolle!

In Petit-Rocher at the Parc de la Plage, the fun begins at 2:00pm. Enjoy some family-friendly Canada day celebration on the beach with cake and live music.

[Beresford Beach]

Beresford Beach has their fun in the sun starting at 1:00 pm with an official ceremony and cake. Circus Stella is in town to show their skills and the Big Bad Party Band are rocking it from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm! Activities and games continue throughout the day and after dusk, time for some mini-fireworks!

In Bathurst you’ll have plenty of great activities between Coronation Park and La Promenade Waterfront, so get ready for some fun!

The Opening Ceremony is at noon at Coronation Park with free cupcakes served at 12:15 pm. Hungry? You’ll be covered with their BBQs, popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones. For the youngsters -- or the young at heart -- many activities are on the menu, like balloon twisting, face painting and inflatable games!

The amazing daytime musical guests will be Red Hunger followed by Eric Beaudoin.

At 6:00 pm, the festivities will move to La Promenade Waterfront. There will be music by Jason Doucet followed by Rock Solid and at dusk, pull up a chair to witness the amazing display of fireworks over the Causeway. Spectacular!

2. La Promenade Waterfront

When: All month long!

Where: Downtown Bathurst

Why: Summer is better at the Waterfront

La Promenade Waterfront will be the stage for many local artists and band throughout the Summer.

From Wednesday to Sunday, always at 7:00 pm, come hear the music of your local favourites.

Every night will be a different vibe to discover, so bring some friends with you and enjoy the music!

3. La Ligue d’Improvisation Chaleur

When: Every Monday at 7:30pm

Where: La Bibitte (CCNB)

Why: You can’t ever have too much laughter in your life

Every Monday night, at 7:30 pm, the Chaleur Improvisation League will be presenting an improv match at “La Bibitte du CCNB”. Players from all over the province will compete fiercely and do their best to take home the coveted “Fou Rire” trophy

4. Woof-Top-Up

When: July 5th

Where: Bathurst Marina

Why: You want to rock out for a great cause

The Rock Solid Band will be rocking it out to raise money for the Bathurst Animal Shelter at the Bathurst Marina on July 5th, and this is a party you won’t want to miss.

Dance to the best of classic rock from the 60s and 70s at the beautiful Bathurst Marina.

This is not your average party either: all proceeds will go towards supporting the local SPCA and their work for homeless, abandoned and abused animals.  

5. Children's Festival

When: July 6th

Where: La Promenade Waterfront

Why: Family fun for children of all ages

It’s back! The Children’s Festival will take place on July 6th from 9:30am to 4:30pm, at La Promenade Waterfront in Bathurst.

The day will be full of fun activities for children of all ages such as karaoke, rock painting, canvas painting, selfie booth, kid’s tattoo booth and even face painting!

This year, the magnificent Rémi Boudreau – Magician will amaze us with his mind-boggling magic tricks and Art Richard will entertain the little ones with his melodies.

6. Elvis Tribute @ Studio 65 Madran 

When: July 7th

Where: Studio 65 in Madran

Why: Hail to the King, Baby !

Bernard AKA Bernie AKA Elvis Beaudoin will be LIVE at the Studio 65 Madran and will bring you back to the Old Time Rock and Roll sound of the King himself!

The voice, the charisma and the charm of Presley will be at the rendezvous! Bernard and his 5 musicians will offer you a night of great music, video projections and emotions that you will not soon forget.

A light snack will be offered after the show as well as a meet and greet with the artists. Truly a night to remember!

7. Festival des Rameurs

When: July 10th to 14th

Where: Petit-Rocher

Why: Row, row, row your boat gently down the bay!

The Festival des Rameurs is one of our region’s longest running (rowing?) festivals.

It all started with the 22-mile race from Bonaventure QC to Petit-Rocher. Now it’s a four-day festival that is one of the highlights of the summer in Petit-Rocher.

On Wednesday night, partake in the action as they crown the next Miss Festival des Rameurs.

On Thursday night, tickle your funny bone with a French comedy show featuring Ti-Rouge and local comedian Nathan Dimitroff at the Salle Multifonctionnelle Denis Richard.

The concerts start on Friday with the Country Night, featuring Andy Bast who will open the show followed by main act Coco Country Band!

Saturday, the race kicks off from Bonaventure and will arrive on site behind the old Ecole Tournesol. Later on, there will be the famous Arm-Wrestling Contest and that night, Méga Party Acadien des Rameurs et Rameuses with the Acadian sensations Cayouche et La Virée! Bring your dancing shoes because “ça va gigger!”

8. Pabineau Pow Wow 

When: July 11th to 14th

Where: Pabineau First Nation

Why: Meet. Dance. Sing. Socialize.

During the second weekend of July, the Pabineau First Nation will be hosting their annual Pow Wow to honour their Mi’gmag heritage.

Expect traditional aboriginal dancing, singing, arts, crafts, foods, and contemporary entertainment.

Activities are from Thursday to Sunday; they begin at noon of the first day with the lighting of the sacred fire and end Sunday after the Grand Exit and Supper at the Hall. Fun for the whole family!

9. Bathurst Hospitality Days

When: July 14th to 22nd

Where: Bathurst

Why: A full week of fun…how can you say no to that?

The legendary Bathurst Hospitality Days: a week of guaranteed good times that has attracted crowds averaging 25,000 to 30,000 over the period of the festival.

The fireworks display has even become a coveted event in Northern New Brunswick with people coming from as far as Caraquet and Miramichi to enjoy the show.

Come see some of your favourite rock bands like Honeymoon Suite, Raglan Road 4.0, Suroit and much more.

During the Festival, make sure to go see the Show and Shine Car show on Main Street, the N.B antique auto club and Downtown Bathurst bring you a great afternoon of cars and it’s a great occasion to take a stroll a closed-off Main Street.

This is a two-weekend event that you won’t want to miss!

10. Beresford Country et Bluegrass Campout

When: July 19th to 21st

Where: Highway 11, between Beresford and Nigadoo

Why: A weekend of camping and jamming!

Situated off of Highway 11 between the Beresford and Nigadoo exits, this 3-day Bluegrass campout is returning this year with even more guitars, more RVs and more fun. The music will be almost be non-stop from Friday night at 7:00 pm until Sunday at 4:00 pm.

There’s plenty of room for tents and trailers and they will even have a canteen and refreshments on site.

Everyone is welcome: bring your instruments, your voices and get ready for a good time!

11. Chaleur Triathlon

When: July 21st

Where: Beresford

Why: Conquer the Triathlon…or cheer on our athletes!

The Chaleur Triathlon is back this year for another edition!

This physically demanding race combines three disciplines: running, biking and swimming. Not for the faint of heart, joining the Triathlon means you’ll be competing against fellow athletes in a race designed to test your endurance and push your limits.

If your triathlon days are behind you, don’t worry: you’re more than welcome to come and cheer them on!

12. Blues d’la Baie

When: July 24th to 28th

Where: Petit-Rocher

Why: It’s the Blues d’la Baie!

Blues d’la Baie is a blues festival that has truly taken off in the last few years, with every new edition being bigger and more fun than the last -- and this year won’t be different.

The musical events take place around Main street in the municipality of Petit-Rocher as well as under the huge tent that can accommodate more than 5000 people!

The shows start on Wednesday with Theresa Malenfant and the Instigators, this show is already sold-out, so be sure to snag your early-bird tickets next year!

Have no fear, Theresa will be playing again on Thursday as the opening act for the Jack de Keyser Band and his tribute to the three King of Blues: Freddie, Albert and BB KING.

[Bistro cœur d’Artishow]

Friday, before the Big Show under the tent with Guy Bélanger & Paul DesLauriers and Kim Richardson, you will be able to find the smaller, more intimate shows all around this vibrant cultural town from 5:30 pm to about 8:00 pm as well as after the show with Cat Bones at “Le Coeur d’Artishow”.

On Saturday the live music starts at 12:15 pm at the Carquest with Mike Robertson & Daniel and continues until 7:30 pm.

After that make sure to head down to the Big Tent for Bryan Tyler and the Bluestorm along with The Blues Beatles!

The festival end with a Brunch at “La Salle Blanche” featuring music from Stephane Hébert and Caroline Boudreau.

13. Belledune Days

When: July 27th to August 4th

Where: Belledune

Why: Fun for the whole family

Fun, friendship and family: that has always been the Belledune Days theme.

This year, the Belledune Days are back in full force.

ATV Fun Run at the Supervillage Trailblazer Lodge, Country Hoedown at the Legion Branch, Laser Tag at the municipal Gymnasium, ladies night, card party, Karaoke, Family movie night, Inflatable games, Face Painting, and FIREWORKS.

It will be an entire week of fun for all ages.
